IT'S A BOY!!!

Well, yesterday was interesting...on my way to work, I got into a little fender bender with another driver. Everybody was fine, except the impact jolted me forward and my seatbelt locked around my belly, pulling it in. I was so worried that I hurt the baby. Josh and my brother, Matt, met me where the wreck was, and Josh called the doctor to see if they could squeeze me in just to make sure that everything was okay. They were able to! We rushed to St. Vincent's, and they eventually got me in with a different doctor. They did an ultrasound and saw that the baby was moving all around and was just fine. No bleeding around the placenta. Josh and I were so relieved!!! Then, the nurse asked us if we wanted to know the sex. We were supposed to find out today anyways, so we said "YES!" After a very long time of wriggling around, she was finally able to tell us that he was 100% boy! She said he was the shyest boy she'd ever seen! He just wasn't ready for his big debut yet...he thought he had one more day to prepare! Even though we didn't get any really good pictures proving that he is a boy, we got a really great one of his face. He is the cutest little boy I have ever seen. I think he looks just like Josh in this picture! So precious! We also got a good one of his legs. They are so long! Looks like he might be taking after his daddy in the height department too! So now we know...another boy for this family! I get to keep my crown as the only girl in the family for another couple of years. Poor Gram:) She is probably tired of every grandchild and great-grandchild being a boy! Even though we had a long, rough morning, it was so wonderful getting to find out the sex a day early! We are so unbelievably excited...a little baseball player. Josh is already talking about his little left-handed pitcher! We have a couple of names that we really love, we'll let you know as soon as we narrow it down to one! We couldn't be happier!

Christmas in Dixie!

Here is our 2009 Christmas picture! It is our first family Christmas pic. This will be such an exciting Christmas...especially since we will find out the sex right before! Also, I have just recently started to feel kicks! Just in the past couple of days, the kicks have started and are becoming more and more frequent. I am 17 weeks in this picture. Baby A is growing!

Norah and Baby A's 1st Picture Together

This is one of my best friends, Erin. She and her husband, Matt, are due in February. I am 14 weeks in this pic. Barely starting to show. We were at November Bunco. I won nothing, but Erin and Baby Norah took home 90 bucks! Norah's really good at Bunco! We can't wait to meet her!

15 Week Appointment

We went in for our usual check-up this past Wednesday, November 25. Everything went well and we heard Baby A's heartbeat! Nice and strong! It was 150 beats per minute. Dr. Christine said that was fast, which some would consider a girl, but we'll see...Our next appointment is December 23, and we will get to find out if it's a boy or a girl! Yay!!! Can't wait!

Today is Josh's 28th birthday, so we have lots to celebrate this weekend...hopefully an Alabama win will be added to the celebration! The whole family is coming over to our house on Sunday for a big birthday dinner and cake! We also moved the bed out of our middle bedroom to make room for baby! So exciting! We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

10 Weeks!

We have made it to the 10 week point! Yay!!! In case you're interested, here is what is going on with Baby A right now:

Though he's barely the size of a kumquat — a little over an inch or so long, crown to bottom — and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce, your baby has now completed the most critical portion of his development. This is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, a time when the tissues and organs in his body rapidly grow and mature. He's swallowing fluid and kicking up a storm. Vital organs — including his kidneys, intestines, brain, and liver (now making red blood cells in place of the disappearing yolk sac) — are in place and starting to function, though they'll continue to develop throughout your pregnancy. If you could take a peek inside your womb, you'd spot minute details, like tiny nails forming on fingers and toes and peach-fuzz hair beginning to grow on tender skin. In other developments: Your baby's limbs can bend now. His hands are flexed at the wrist and meet over his heart, and his feet may be long enough to meet in front of his body. The outline of his spine is clearly visible through translucent skin, and spinal nerves are beginning to stretch out from his spinal cord. Your baby's forehead temporarily bulges with his developing brain and sits very high on his head, which measures half the length of his body. From crown to rump, he's about 1 1/4 inches long. In the coming weeks, your baby will again double in size — to nearly 3 inches.

Just thought I'd post it...we were excited about our baby passing the critical stage in its' development! My pants are starting to get tight, and my tummy is beginning to poke out a little...I didn't expect to start showing so early...I guess that's what happens when you have a 6'5" husband. One more week until our next appointment! We can't wait!

First Pics

On Friday, we went in for our most recent check-up. Turns out we are actually 3 days behind what we thought we were. Now the due date is May 21, 2010. One day after my mom's birthday! They gave us another ultrasound, and this time, we got to keep the pics of our little peanut! We also saw and heard the heartbeat!!!! It was amazing! Next appointment is scheduled for October 30, when we will be 11 weeks! Yay! Can't wait to see our little pumpkin again!

6 weeks

I had an appointment with Dr. Christine this past Monday. We were one day shy of 6 weeks. It was still too early to see a heartbeat, but she said that everything looked great! My next appointment is next Friday, October 2. We will get to see the heartbeat AND they'll give us our first pictures of Baby A!!! We cannot wait!

The nausea started this week...it only hits me when I think about food. Ughhh! It looks like the next 6 weeks will consist of me forcing myself to eat. At least nausea is a good sign. I can handle it as long as the baby's healthy!

Telling the Family

We decided to only tell our immediate family for now, since it's still so early. We started with Debbie, Josh's mom. She was going out of town this past Wednesday, and we were supposed to take her to the airport. Little did we know that we were going to be at the doctor for 2 hours! Since we weren't able to take her, she wanted us to meet her there to get her keys, so we could take her new car home and it wouldn't have to sit at the airport for 6 days. A little background: about 2 months ago, she bought a new 2-door, Mercedes SLK. We told her when she was getting it that she wouldn't be able to drive a grandbaby around in it and that she should take a look at some of the 4-door models. She said "when y'all have a baby, I'll trade it in!" She didn't realize how soon that might be! When we met her at the airport, we handed her a rolled-up magazine for some "reading on the plane." It was an Autotrader magazine. When she unrolled it, she didn't get it at first and unenthusiastically said, "Thanks." Then...we jokingly said, "Look at it carefully, you have 8 months to find a new car!" She got it and started screaming and hugging! She said she couldn't wait to think up her "grandma" name on the plane!

For my parents, we told them that our neighborhood was having a wine and jazz festival on Friday night and that they should drive up for it. They were excited and said they'd be here. When they arrived, we had a tray with cheeses and crackers, and two glasses of wine waiting for them. Leaning against the bottle of wine was a card addressed to them. When they opened the card, the front said, "We're expanding our home by 2 feet..." confused, they opened it. The inside had a stamp of two baby feet and said, "...Addition to be completed on May 18, 2010!" My mom got it right away and started jumping, screaming, and hugging, while my dad was still trying to figure out why in the world we were adding 2 feet to our brand new home! Then, he got it! We were all so excited!!!

First Appointment

We saw Dr. Christine this past Wednesday. We had our first ultrasound. It was amazing. We were at 5 weeks, 1 day, which was still too early to find a heartbeat, so she wanted me to come back in on Monday for another ultrasound. I can't wait to see Baby A's little heartbeat! They calculated the due date to be May 18, 2010! ANOTHER May event for our family!!!

We're Pregnant!!!

Josh and I found out the great news on September 8. I couldn't wait to tell him, so I just flipped on all of the lights at 4:45 in the morning and said "WE'RE PREGNANT!!!" After 3 positive tests, we called Dr. Christine to make our first appointment. We will be seeing her next Wednesday, Septmeber 16! We are overjoyed!!!
